Basically in calculating your handicap you first need your adjusted gross score. This is done by taking the number of shots and counting in the  restriction to the score on each hole according to the maximum allowed based on the ESC guidelines. Once you have your scores, you then minus from each one the golf course rating. Then multiply this amount by 113 and divide the sum by the slope rating. You will then have a number representing each round of golf you played.  Next will depend on how many scores you are using to calculate. If you are using 5 scores, then just take the lowest number. If you are using 20 scores, take the 10 lowest ones and average them.  Once you have one amount, multiply it by .96. This will give your handicap and you can round it to the nearest point after the decimal.
